Learn About Cryptocurrency Mining

What is Cryptocurrency Mining?

Mining is the process of validating transactions and adding new blocks to the blockchain. Miners compete to solve a complex mathematical puzzle - whoever solves it first gets to add the next block and receive the block reward (currently 500 AXE).

Think of it like a lottery: Your mining hardware makes billions of guesses per second. The more guesses you can make (higher hashrate), the better your chances of finding a valid block.

Mining serves two critical purposes:

  • Security: Makes it extremely expensive to attack or manipulate the network
  • Coin Distribution: New coins are created and distributed to miners as rewards
🔒

How SHA256 Mining Works

SuperAxeCoin uses the SHA256 algorithm - the same algorithm used by Bitcoin. This means any SHA256 mining hardware works for both chains.

The Mining Process:
  1. Gather Transactions: Collect pending transactions from the mempool
  2. Build Block Header: Combine previous block hash + merkle root + timestamp + nonce
  3. Hash the Header: Apply SHA256 twice (double-SHA256) to the block header
  4. Check Difficulty: If the hash is below the target difficulty, you found a block!
  5. Increment Nonce: If not valid, change the nonce and try again (billions of times per second)
Example: What miners are looking for
Target: 00000000000000000007a4... (hash must start with many zeros)
Miner tries nonce=1: 8f4a2b... (invalid - doesn't start with zeros)
Miner tries nonce=2: 3c7d9e... (invalid)
... billions of attempts ...
Miner tries nonce=847291: 00000000000000000004f2... (VALID! Block found!)
💻

Mining Hardware Options

SHA256 mining has evolved significantly. Here's what you need to know about different hardware options:

🖥
CPU Mining
Not Viable

Your computer's processor. Maybe 10-50 MH/s on a good day.

  • Free to try (you already own it)
  • Will never find a block on mainnet
  • Good for learning on testnet/regtest
🎮
GPU Mining
Educational

Graphics cards. About 200-500 MH/s for SHA256.

  • Better than CPU, but still outclassed
  • High electricity costs vs rewards
  • Better suited for other algorithms (Ethash, etc.)
ASIC Mining
Recommended

Specialized chips built ONLY for SHA256. 100+ TH/s!

  • Millions of times faster than GPUs
  • Most efficient power consumption
  • Required for serious mining
Reality Check: SHA256 mining is dominated by industrial-scale operations with thousands of ASICs. SuperAxeCoin's low difficulty makes it more accessible, but without ASIC hardware, mining is primarily educational.
👥

Solo Mining vs Pool Mining

Solo Mining

You mine independently. If you find a block, you keep the entire 500 AXE reward.

Pros:
  • Keep 100% of block rewards
  • No pool fees
  • Complete independence
Cons:
  • Irregular, unpredictable income
  • May go weeks/months without finding a block
  • Need significant hashpower
Pool Mining

Combine hashpower with other miners. Rewards are split proportionally.

Pros:
  • Regular, predictable payouts
  • Start earning immediately
  • Lower variance
Cons:
  • Pool takes a fee (usually 1-2%)
  • Rewards split among all miners
  • Depends on pool reliability
SuperAxePool is Solo-Style: Unlike traditional pools, SuperAxePool sends block rewards directly to your wallet address (minus 1% fee). You're solo mining through their stratum server - no splitting rewards with other miners, no payout thresholds to reach.
📈

Understanding Difficulty & Hashrate

Hashrate

The number of hash calculations your miner can perform per second. Measured in H/s, KH/s (thousands), MH/s (millions), GH/s (billions), TH/s (trillions), or PH/s (quadrillions).

1 KH/s = 1,000 H/s 1 MH/s = 1,000 KH/s 1 GH/s = 1,000 MH/s 1 TH/s = 1,000 GH/s
Difficulty

A measure of how hard it is to find a valid block. Higher difficulty means more hashes are needed on average to find a block.

SuperAxeCoin uses LWMA (Linear Weighted Moving Average) difficulty adjustment - it recalculates every single block based on recent block times. This prevents the wild swings seen in coins with longer adjustment periods.

Estimated Time to Find a Block:
Time = (Difficulty ร— 2^32) / Your_Hashrate

Example: With difficulty 1000 and 1 TH/s hashrate:
(1000 ร— 4,294,967,296) / 1,000,000,000,000 = ~4.3 seconds average

Step-by-Step Mining Setup Guide

1
Get a Wallet Address

You need a SuperAxeCoin address to receive mining rewards. Options:

  • Desktop Wallet: Download from our releases page (recommended)
  • Web Wallet: Create one instantly in the Wallet section above
  • CLI: Use superaxecoin-cli getnewaddress
2
Choose Your Mining Software

For SHA256 ASIC miners, popular options include:

  • CGMiner: Classic, widely compatible
  • BFGMiner: Modular, lots of features
  • Built-in Firmware: Most ASICs come with mining software
3
Configure Your Miner

Point your miner to SuperAxePool with these settings:

Pool URL: stratum+tcp://www.superaxepool.com:3350
Username: YOUR_WALLET_ADDRESS
Password: x (or anything)
4
Start Mining!

Launch your mining software and watch the shares roll in. When you find a block, the reward (495 AXE after 1% pool fee) goes directly to your wallet.

Monitor your mining on SuperAxePool.com - enter your wallet address to see your hashrate and any blocks you've found.

Learning Tip: Want to experiment without real hardware? Run SuperAxeCoin in regtest mode and use the built-in generatetoaddress command to simulate mining instantly!
🎁

Block Rewards & Halving

Mining rewards decrease over time through a process called "halving." This controls the total supply and creates scarcity.

SuperAxeCoin Halving Schedule:
Era Block Range Reward Total Coins Mined
1 (Current) 0 - 210,000 500 AXE 105,000,000 AXE
2 210,001 - 420,000 250 AXE 157,500,000 AXE
3 420,001 - 630,000 125 AXE 183,750,000 AXE
4 630,001 - 840,000 62.5 AXE 196,875,000 AXE
... ... ... ...
Final ~2,100,000+ 0 AXE 210,000,000 AXE (max)
Why Halving Matters: With 2-minute blocks, each halving occurs approximately every 292 days (~10 months). Early miners receive the highest rewards, incentivizing early adoption and network security.
